Parliament on Tuesday afternoon paid tribute to Ugandan-born US Marine Capt Frank Musisi for his valuable contributions to the country’s development.
Frank Musisi, who has served in the US Army since 2000 is the current President and Founder of Ssese Islands African Aids Project (SIAAP), a program offering free health services to the people of Kalangala district his home area.
Frank joined the U.S Army in 2000 as an enlisted soldier. He was assigned to the 31st Combat Support Hospital, 31st Air Defense Artillery Brigade at Fort Bliss, Texas from 2001 to 2005. He served his first tour in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and in April 2005 Captain Musisi received a Direct Commission from the President of the United States in the U.S Army as 2LT
He is currently the commanding officer of the Headquarters Company, 377.
The motion to honour Capt Musisi’s contributions was moved by Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Ssuubi MP, Mityana North
Parliament applauded Captain Musisi for establishing a medical facility under the Ssese Islands African Aids Project, SIAAP in Uganda with its headquarters at Bugoma Village, caring mainly for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
The facility has since offered free medical services to thousands of deserving indigent people in Sese Islands, Lake Victoria, Kalangala District.
The Kabaka of Buganda recently chose the facility as the centre for the official Buganda Day for immunization from where he launched Bulungi Bwansi through the mass immunization that saw over 2000 children being immunized in one day.
During last year alone, over 14,000 people received free medical services from the centre and more are still receiving treatment.
